BCAHE Special Election: Adjunct Affairs Officer 22-23

Hi Folks,

It is finally time to elect the newly created, and much heralded, Adjunct Affairs Officer.  Please keep an eye out for a Qualtrics ballot that will show up this afternoon.   Voting will remain open through next Monday, April 25th, and we will try to announce a winner early next week.   Thank you to both of these fine candidates for being willing to serve.   Please check out their bios below.

Ian Walker:  I have been an adjunct in Geography at BC since 2014. I have spent the last year serving on the BCAHE Executive Council and would appreciate the opportunity to continue my work in the union to represent and advocate for all faculty, but especially for adjuncts at our college. I am also a member of the Positive Policies for Adjuncts committee and have recently been serving on the Labor Management team. I would appreciate the opportunity to continue with this important work and to help improve the “adjunct experience” at Bellevue College.

Tobi Rosenberg: I am pleased to be able to run for BCAHE’s new Adjunct Affairs Officer position, which reflects our faculty’s dedication to addressing adjunct faculty working conditions on our campus and across the state.

I have been an active member of the BCAHE Executive Council since 2013, serving as a council member; Secretary-Treasurer; and Vice President. I have represented both full-time and adjunct faculty on the Contract Bargaining and Labor-Management teams since 2014. As the Washington Educational Association’s (WEA) Adjunct Representative to the Legislative Committee, I advocate for community and technical college faculty and students in Olympia. My recent collaboration with other labor and community groups, for example, led to the legislation of 200 new state-funded full-time faculty CTC positions.

I would be honored to serve in the AAO position to ensure that adjunct faculty are well represented in the effort to build and maintain a campus community that we can be proud of.
